Latest FNL Report!

Wed, 05/07/2017 - 09:28

FNL's 2016 Annual Report has just been published.  It features essays on all items acquired with our help during last year, as well as the text of the amusing lecture delivered at the 2016 AGM by Geordie Greig, FNL Trustee and editor of the Mail on Sunday.   FNL Trustees are grateful to EFG Private Banking for their generous sponsorship of this Annual Report.

FNL awarded 35 grants during 2016, which totalled nearly £175,000.  Among the grants awarded were:

£5,000 to Durham University Library for the archive of Laurens van der Post (1906-1996);

£6,250 to Cambridge University Library for a manuscript catalogue of the parish library of Lund in the East Riding of Yorkshire, c1676;

£5,000 to the University of St Andrews for the Marchmont manuscript of the Scottish legal text, Regiam Maiestatem, 1584;

£5,000 enabled Norfolk Record Office to buy 86 lots from the Morningthorpe Manor sale;

£2,000 to Cornwall Record Office for the archive of the Garstin family of Penzance;

£10,000 to the Brontë Parsonage Museum for The Remains of Henry Kirke White of Nottingham..(1810) by Robert Southey -  this copy belonged to the mother of the Brontë sisters and contained annotations and insertions by members of the family.

You can download a pdf below.  Hard copies of the annual report are sent to all FNL members - so if you would like a hard copy of this extremely interesting publication do join FNL! You can find out more about joining by following this link.
