The major part of the archive relates to the Henbury Hall estate, bought by Thomas Brocklehurst in 1875. The estate came with leases, rentals and maps dating back about 150 years; there are also papers relating to John Brocklehursts election as MP in 1859 and the establishment of the West Park Museum by the family to mark the Diamond Jubilee
