Published by Thomas Jefferys, the large world map shows the track of Admiral Lord Ansons fleet which returned in 1743 laden with plunder from the captured Manila Galleon. The screen allows us a glimpse into the informal geographical education of early Georgian England, with its 20 peripheral maps of Europe, parts of the British Isles, the area around London and the university cities of Oxford and Cambridge.
