This is a third tranche, added to Cheshire Archives' existing holdings of records of this important family, comprising court rolls of the Manor of Rixton with Glazebrook, 1717-1835, title deeds, a fine series of more than 300 leases from the 1620s onwards, estate accounts and vouchers, rentals and valuations, as well two 18th century maps. Included are two unusual leases of the ferry across the Mersey at Hollin’s Green 1639, 1651; papers relating to a dispute between Stephen Tempest and Sir Peter Warburton of Arley over the same ferry rights in 1770; an agreement for the division of Glazebrook Moss in 1714; and an agreement for allocating the pews in Glazebrook Chapel, 1738.
