A tin trunk of documents formerly belonging to Thomas Peel (1768-1843) of Peel Fold, Lancashire, and Penzance and Trenant Park, Duloe, in Cornwall. He was the son of William Peel (1745-1791), a brother of textile manufacturer Robert Peel (1750-1830) , 1st Bt. of Drayton, Staffs, 1800, MP for Tamworth 1790-1820. The trunk’s owner was his nephew; his son Robert was Sir Robert Peel (1788-1850), 2nd Bt., the Prime Minister.

The archive includes Peel estate deeds, leases, marriage settlements and correspondence relating to the Cornish properties, and similar items for the Morshead, Buller and Arundell families, previous owners of the estate. A fine survey book and plan of the Trenant Park lands, drawn for John Morshead in 1781 by the Devonshire cartographer Alexander Law (1753-1840), is among the contents.
